Home theater in a box is a type of home theater system which gives you everything right out of the box, minus the big screen TV. HTIB usually comes with speakers, surround sound receiver, DVD player or VCR. Some home theater system sellers also sell a HTIB with a DVD/VCR recorder.
Probably the biggest factor when getting a HTIB type of home theater system is the cost. A home theater in a box can range for as little as a couple hundred dollars. If you think about it, a home theater in a box does translate to great savings considering it costs fifty bucks and plus for a movie ticket. The downside though of having a home theater in a box type of home theater system is that it is not as versatile when it comes to adding plug in components and making multiple connections. You cannot also expect the sound system to perform perfectly either and if you do decide to change your speakers later for better quality sound; you might have a bit of an inconvenience doing just that. |
